Ja Morant’s first Nike signature shoe has arrived!

The Nike “Ja 1” is coming this April!

In 1989, Nike Basketball created a marketing campaign for Michael Jordan that famously stated “It’s gotta be the shoes!”. Whenever we see the most exciting athletes perform in the NBA, we always pay attention to the shoes they are performing in. LeBron’s signature line and player exclusives, Jason Tatum’s Jordan 36’s and the infamous Kobe styles worn by PJ Tucker, DeRozan, Devin Booker and more.

One of the most exciting young athletes in the league today who loves Nike signature basketball styles is Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant. His emphatic athleticism and contagious energy has ignited Memphis basketball in a way we haven’t seen for years. That same energy will now be transferred in Ja Morant’s first Nike signature shoe, The “Ja 1”.

On Christmas Day, Nike & Ja Morant unveiled the “Day One” launch colorway. The reveal went viral on social media as a special Christmas Gift from his young daughter to unwrap the shoe. On top of that, Ja debuted the shoe on court with an All-Star like performance.

The low-cut sneaker embodies the next-gen technology from Nike along with resemblance from classic signature lines of the past like the iconic Kobe line. The eye-popping color blocking and gritty storytelling that personifies Ja’s play can be seen throughout the 2 colorways that have appeared on the court. In a recent game-worn pair, “We Ain’t Ducking No Smoke” can be seen printed on the back heel cup under a matte/gloss Nike wraparound swoosh.

The Ja 1 is scheduled to be released this April. Stay tuned with JD Sports for more information around the release this Spring.
