Jordan Brand is no stranger to making history — it basically helped write the sneaker history books.
Even so, it was still a groundbreaking moment in 2018 when the most iconic basketball name of all-time made a deal that would see the Jumpman featured on the kits of one of France’s most successful soccer clubs, Paris Saint-Germain F.C.
MJ himself has some ties to Paris: the brand’s first European store, the Jordan Bastille, was opened there in 2016, and for more than 15 years Jordan Brand has sponsored the legendary Quai 54, the largest streetball tournament in the world.
Anyway, back to PSG. As well as a multi-year uniform sponsorship, Jordan and PSG have since collaborated on apparel and footwear, including 2019’s Jordan Mars 270 ‘PSG’ sneaker.
This fall, the collaboration has kicked it up several notches, if you’ll excuse the pun, with the forthcoming release of the Air Jordan 7 Retro ‘Paris Saint-Germain.’
Retro fans won’t want to miss this one, and Francophiles will covet it too. The white leather upper of the classic AJ7 upper is adorned with the red and blue hues of the football club’s home uniforms.
Contrasting black hits feature on the midsoles and outsoles, while further details set the design off: small tags on the midfoot read “Paname,” the colloquial name for Paris and its suburbs; and a stylized PSG logo featuring a fleur-de-lys and the Eiffel Tower graces the heels.
Text on the sockliners reads “Ici C’est Paris,” or “this is Paris,” the soccer club’s motto.
