No frontin’, these Pharrell x adidas NMD Hu colorways are a must-cop

As far as musician sneaker collaborations go, Pharrell Williams’ collection with adidas may not have had as much visibility as his stablemate Kanye West, but he’s quietly amassed quite the range.

Skateboard P has loaned his name to some of the most recognizable Three Stripes silhouettes ever, from the Stan Smith and Superstar to the groundbreaking mid-2010s NMD, as well as performance-adjacent kicks like the Solar Glide and Crazy Boost You Wear (BYW) lines and an original model, the Tennis Hu.

Easily the most highly sought-after of the Human Race collaboration is the NMD Hu, a design tweak on the immensely popular lifestyle shoe that brought the German brand a surge of street credibility in 2015 upon its release.

The NMD Hu features a full-length sock-like upper with lace guides at the collar that allow the wearer to choose the snugness of their fit. The Primeknit uppers were emblazoned with a range of messages, ranging from “HUMAN BEING” to “PEACE,” “HAPPY, “PASSION” and “YOUTH.”

We’ve even seen Hu NMD versions in collaboration with Pharrell’s BBC Ice Cream label as well as regional exclusive releases paying tribute to Chinese and Indian culture.

Now a new colorway is upon us, with the forthcoming arrival of the Pharrell x adidas Hu NMD in Dash Green and Sesame colorways.

The former does away with the Primeknit in favor of a mesh upper in Dash Green, with those trademark lace guides constructed with semitransparent pale green sitting atop a full-length Boost midsole cushioning unit that’s tinged with a Sand hue to give the shoe a gracefully aged look.

The second colorway also features a mesh upper, this time in Sesame (think that lush 2019 Yeezy Boost 350 V2 colorway) with Bright Red TPU plugs in the Boost midsole.

Both pairs feature embroidery that translates to “Human Race;” the green pair utilizes Korean characters, while the sesame is written in Chinese.
