Without Googling it, what do you think is the highest-grossing animated film series of all time at the box office?
I’d have guessed Toy Story or Shrek, but I’d have been wrong. It’s the Despicable Me franchise, which has raked in an average of more than $900 million per movie worldwide since it first hit theaters in 2010.
So it’s no wonder that studio Illumination is excited about the next installment, Minions: The Rise of Gru, which is set to land in 2021.
It’s celebrating in a way us sneakerheads can get behind: A funky collaboration with Reebok in several classic styles for adults and kids.
Young ones will be able to rock the iconic tennis Club C 85 in Minions colors, with bold yellow uppers and highlights of blue and silver, with “Minion Powered” branding near the heel and a “Minion party” on the insoles. A Minions-inspired Versapump is also on deck for toddlers.
Grown-up fans of the series can get their feet into a pair of insanely cool Instapump Fury dressed in Minions yellow and blue, with an eye design on the Pump button and a banana peel graphic on the left outsole.
If that’s a little bright for you, perhaps the Question Mid ‘Gru’s Lab’ is the right fit. Dressed with a metallic silver upper and a chrome heel panel featuring the movie supervillain’s logo, this legendary basketball shoe also incorporates neon green tubing on the upper that matches the “slime” in the outsole for ultimate court traction.
