Who’s the most famous missing fictional character in history?
Some might say it’s Carmen Sandiego, given she could be anywhere in the world at any given moment, but my money’s on Waldo.
That tall, slim, red-and-white-striped-sweater-rocking fella (who originated from England as “Wally”) has had us searching high and low for him and his pals Wendy, Wizard Whitebeard, Woof and Odlaw since 1987.
From humble beginnings In The Town in the original Where’s Waldo book, the main character got lost everywhere from the beach to the Middle Ages and all the way to Hollywood.
And now, 2021 sees Waldo return to Southern California (in spirit, anyway) to grace a special sneaker collection in collaboration with legendary skate brand Vans.
The Vans Classic Slip-On comes in Men’s and Kids’ sizing emblazoned with Waldo’s iconic beach scene, while the pack also features Vans Authentic and Old Skool models.
Kids get an extra choice, with the high-top Skate-Hi silhouette coming dressed in yellow and black checkerboard reminiscent of Odlaw’s outfits. Matching apparel pieces will also drop in Kids’ sizing.
You won’t have to look too hard to find Waldo this time, because his Vans collaboration are available now at jdsports.com.
