They say the most important step in any workout is the one you take when you step out the door or, onto the treadmill.
To that end, you want that step to be supported by the right shoe. One that’s responsive and ready to give back every ounce of energy you put into it.
You’re going to want to meet the adidas Ultraboost 21, the latest addition to the the Three Stripes’ iconic performance footwear stable.
And while familiar technology like Primeknit and Boost cushioning are again key elements of the new model, that doesn’t mean adidas is resting on its laurels this time around.
“Ultraboost is undoubtedly one of the greatest products that adidas has ever built, so in that sense, there is a real pressure and a lot to live up to every time that we upgrade,” adidas Running Creative Director Sam Handy told JD Style.
“The most significant upgrade in UB21 is the new adidas LEP, which increases the forefoot bending stiffness by 15%, creating more spring through the forefoot for a more responsive ride and incredible energy return.”

If that sounds futuristic, consider this: the design process begins around two years in advance of release, so adi designers are basically gazing into a shoe-focused crystal ball.
“We always have to be one step ahead, anticipating future trends and performance needs to ensure that when the shoe is released, it meets the objectives of our audience,” Handy said.
While the OG Ultraboost has cemented its place in the sneaker game as a shoe that works just as well with a sharp outfit as it does on the track or trail, Handy is quick to reiterate that it’s a performance-first model.
“Running is critical to the brand’s credibility as a whole,” he said.
“You will have seen the impact of adizero Adios Pro and the game-changing performance that is delivering at an elite level.
“Ultraboost is up there as one of our most iconic and important franchises, so it needs to express the brand essence as well as always delivering on performance.”
