There’s music in the Air, and the artists in this new class of the Nike Global Air Collective are creating it, shaping the sound and style of a new generation. But music, much like Air Max, transcends time, space, and age unifying everyone from OGs to the new school and reminds us that classics always feel like home.
In that spirit, we linked with six up-and-coming superstars, put them under one roof, and let them lean into the creative energy. Meet the new class of the Nike Global Air Collective below!
Leading the Nike Global Air Collective Class of 2024 is an Atlanta native who has made quite the name for himself. After growing up on our screens via a certain television series (if you know, you know), Domani Harris is a star with a bright present and future. Through his independent label, Forever Records, Domani has released four albums since his debut The Process EP in 2016.
His latest EP, Dear Jane, even garnered comparisons to other rap legends, but for Domani, it’s about marching to the beat of his own drum and impacting others as he continues to build his own legacy. “My goal in hip-hop is to see growth in myself and to see the impact that I make on other people.”
Say hello to Brooklyn’s newest Queen.
Lola Brooke, who hails from Bedford-Stuyvesant, was first inspired to rap by some of the famous New York MCs who rose to prominence in the ’90’s and early 2000s. Growing up, Brooke spent a lot of time alone while her mother worked, and she found comfort in music. After journaling daily throughout elementary school, she eventually turned her poetry into raps.
Being from Brooklyn fits her well; a smooth flow and a lyrical makeup that is equal parts rugged and vulnerable are her calling cards. Her breakthrough came when she dropped “Don’t Play With It” in 2021, a song that later blew up on TikTok and was eventually Certified Gold in 2023.
Last year, Brooke was also part of XXL’s Freshman class and was named a 2023 Breakthrough Artist by Amazon Music.
What do you get when you mix a scholar, an old soul, and an artist? KAMAUU.
Raised in the DMV and based in Brooklyn, New York, KAMAUU is an artist, rapper, and poet who took a road less traveled on his musical journey. Before he began his music career, KAMAUU attended the Pratt Institute for film and co-founded DoloBhana—a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist collective. That dedication to being a student of his craft has resulted in a special blend of music that manages to successfully weave together threads of rap, reggae, soul, and even doo-wop.
Officially signed to Atlantic Records in 2015, he released his debut EP, A Gorgeous Fortune, in 2016. With his single “Jusfayu,” KAMAUU landed coveted placements in shows like HBO’s Insecure and on the FIFA and Madden ’17 video games. The single went on to generate over 10 million cumulative streams and was handpicked by NPR as one of their “Songs We Love.”
If you’re looking for an artist on the rise, look no further than Eem Triplin.
Hailing from Johnstown, PA, Eem is no stranger to the music scene. After building his rep for years on the production front as a go-to producer, Eem began taking his production in-house and creating his own sounds. The turning point arrived with his breakout track, “AWKWARD FREESTYLE,” which ingeniously sampled another song by the same name.
With an unmistakable style that blends elements of trap, rap, and R&B, he leans into introspective artistry that often touches on his own (and his fans’) life experiences. Smooth flow and intricate wordplay are Eem’s strong suit, with a penchant for vivid imagery, hilariously authentic lyrics, and a relatable energy that makes Eem Triplin one to watch.
True artists, like Sherwyn, understand what it means to be multifaceted.
Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Nashville, TN, Los Angeles–based artist Sherwyn has music in his veins. After picking up a bass guitar as a young child, Sherwyn honed his skills as a bassist, a producer, and a songwriter. Drawing inspiration from the soca and reggae of his Caribbean roots, Sherwyn fuses sounds together with a knack for crafting experimental, multi-genre music for Gen Y.
Citing the use of vinyl records and old school tape decks as one of his large-scale inspirations, Sherwyn brings a robust and cutting-edge reverb; full, crisp synths; and bass-heavy hip-hop beats that grab individuals upon first listen.
Aliyah Bah—aka Aliyah’s Interlude— is one of those artists who is just unapologetically herself.
Originally known for birthing the #AliyahCore aesthetic—distinguished by layers of fishnets, moon boots, and furry headphones—Aliyah’s blending of Y2K fashion with Harajuku style has been a mainstay on our social media screens.
But Aliyah’s no stranger to dominating popular culture. Her meteorically successful debut song “IT GIRL” went viral on TikTok in 2023, amassing over 100 million Spotify streams. With no shortage of online buzz, her second single “Fashion Icon” garnered close to two million streams. Yet, her true mission is rooted in something far more important: representation. “I really want to open up the gates for alternative Black girls, and bring chaos and camp to a global audience.”
